The water needs to be clear for the light to work. It can't work properly if the water has particles floating in it or it's cloudy. It should be filtered first.

There are crevices in the internal drum that coins, screws, small parts of metal can fall into, that will need to be identified and removed with the machine turned off if this doesnt work out Also you may test the drum by spinning by hand if the drum is very loose it might be an internal problem (with power turned off). You can only fix this by having the spare parts and know how. You will need to decide if it is worth replacing the parts including your time or to simply buy a new one. Air Clothes dryers have a life expectancy of 10 years with normal wear and tear.

That's why there is a brass connector between the copper and the sensor to prevent corrosion .
